IBZ International Meeting Centre, Magdeburg
The International Meeting Centre Magdeburg provides apartments for visiting postdoctoral researchers and visiting professors from abroad. An additional service of the Meeting Centre is the organisation of a range of events for residents. An application for an apartment in the Meeting Centre must be submitted by the host department at Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences. Residences of the Grundtec Bauregie GmbH
Grundtec is a private company running a number of furnitured student residences on or near the campus of the Otto-von-Guericke University.
PLEASE NOTE: Grundtec requires a period of stay of one year (2 semester) minimum.

Finding Accommodation on the Internet
You can find a room in a shared flat or an apartment for temporary accommodation (mostly they are furnitured) on several websites. The most important ones are the following:
Select "Magdeburg" in the section "read offers", then choose your preferred type of accommodation (room in a shared flat, single-room apartment etc.). Enter for how long you want to stay and finally select "short term". Start your search.
Click on "Wohnungsmarkt", choose either "WG-Angebote" or "Wohnungsangebote" from the menu and select "Magdeburg".
Click on "Wohnungen und WGs suchen", select Magdeburg, the type of accommodation you want to rent (a room in a shared flat or an apartment), the number of rooms and finally choose "nur Zwischenmiete anzeigen".
Short-term Apartment Agencies and Room Rental Agencies
Short-term apartment agencies (Mitwohnzentralen) and room rental agencies (Zimmervermittlungen) are also a good place to look for furnished accommodation for a short period of time. In general, you are required to pay a commission equivalent to 1 to 3 months' rent.

Housing Cooperatives
Such cooperatives usually rent out unfurnished apartments to their members. You are usually required to pay a four-digit membership fee (cooperative shares). As a result, the rent is lower than on the open market. Nevertheless, this is only worthwhile if you want to stay for a longer period of time (degree students). As there is an excess supply of this type of housing, it is worth asking whether it is possible to waive the membership fee.

Communal Housing Associations do not require a membership fee. They offer mostly unfurnished housing at a relatively low price. Nevertheless, it is worth asking if furnishing is possible.
