Language and Communication in Organizations

The programme provides an academically founded and above all practice-oriented education, which prepares students for working in diverse fields of employment: technical translation in industry and commerce, for national and international public bodies and organisations or in publishing houses, and in the related fields of terminology, technical documentation, business communication and technical information.

The course includes a semester abroad in an English-speaking linguistic and cultural region. Students can choose to spend a semester in a professional environment (internship abroad) or at a university (studying abroad). Spending a semester abroad is a course requirement and gives students the opportunity to further their knowledge of language and cultures.

A higher education entrance qualification is a general prerequisite for admittance to the programme of study. International applicants must provide proof of educational qualifications that permit study in Germany (school-leaving certificate, certificate of university attendance).

The DAAD database on admission requirements allows international students to check whether they meet the requirements for the degree programme of their choice in Germany.

The languages of instruction are German and Englisch.

Foreign applicants must prove they have adequate knowledge of German (C1). Evidence of the necessary German language skills can be provided in the form of:

• Goethe C1
• TestDaF (minimun 3x level 5 and 1x level 4 in the examination modules)
• telc C1
• DSH 2
• DSD Deutsches Sprachdiplom
• UNIcert III

Evidence must be provided of knowledge of the English language to level B2. Evidence of the necessary English language skills can be provided in the form of:

• TOEFL (iBT 72-94, PBT > 543, CBT > 233, ITP 543–626)
• IELTS (minimum 5,5)
• telc B2
• UNIcert II
• Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)

In the case of university entrance qualifications from Australia, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand or the United States or a degree programme completed there, no additional evidence of English language skills is required.

Applicants who are unable to fulfil the specified admission requirements may contact a preparatory college (‘Studienkolleg’). These specifically prepare foreign applicants for a course of study in Germany. Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences does not have its own preparatory college. The state-run preparatory college responsible for our institution is located at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences in Köthen.
