Programme objectives
Students on the programme acquire fundamental professional knowledge and the skills to work independently in accordance with scientific methods, to master the varied demands of employment in the fields of applied practice, research or teaching, and to manage the frequently changing tasks that arise in the working world.
Professional expertise is built in the field of health promotion and organisational development so as to be able to develop, implement and evaluate processes of change and reform in organisations from the viewpoint of health promotion.
Towards this end, students acquire competencies in the following areas:
- health and social policy,
- empirical social research,
- organisational development,
- management and communication
Degree course content
In semesters 1 and 2, students are equipped with specialist scientific expertise which fosters all-round skills, abilities and applied competencies in the fields of health and social policy, sociological research methods, health promotion in organisational development, and economics and management.
Competencies are also developed in social and intercultural communication. In parallel study projects the students can reflect on, test and extend the knowledge they have acquired in a specific field of activity.
In semester 3 the qualifications and competencies acquired are applied and put into practice in a traineeship setting. Semester 4 is spent writing the Master’s thesis and concludes with the colloquium.
Admission requirements
Admission to the Master‘s programme Health Promoting Organisational Development requires a good or excellent university degree (minimum 2.0 in German grading system) completed over a standard course duration of at least 6 semesters or at least 180 credits in the field of Social and Health Science. Also the final thesis of the first university degree must have been graded with at least 2.0.
The language of instruction is German. Foreign applicants must prove they have adequate knowledge of German. Evidence of the necessary German language skills can be provided in the form of:
- Goethe Certificate C2
- DSD II
- DSH II
- TestDaF (minimun 16 total points & minimun level 3 in the examination modules)
- TELC Deutsch C1 Hochschule
- ÖSD C2
In addition, evidence must be provided of knowledge of the English language to level B2 of the Common European Framework.
